Enchanted Breaths Key 9: Nature

Sunrise, Sunset. Swiftly Fly the Years. Slow Things Down.

Sunrise, Sunset.

Sunrise, Sunset is the name of a song from Fiddler on the Roof. Do you remember it? The lyrics include:
       Sunrise, sunset (x2),
Swiftly fly the years
,
One season following another,
Laiden with happiness and tears.

Well my Enchanted Journeyers, I’m here to tell you that unless we slow ourselves down and calm things in our own tiny corner of this world, everything will be a chaotic blur. Sunsets will follows sunrises with no recognition or appreciation, or distinction from one day to the next until time ends. We can’t let that happen.

In Sunday’s Enchanted Blog post I invited you to attend Mother Nature’s show, held 365-days a year, 24- hours per day, with no two shows ever the same. This is the secret to slowing time down a bit and savoring life’s moments.

View A Sunrise, Sunset

For this week’s challenge, I’d like you to pick a day or evening within the next seven days, to watch either the sunrise or the sunset. Snazz it up by adding sensory experiences. Maybe even practice grounding or earthing while watching Mother Nature’s show, by pressing your bare feet to the ground. Make a mug of hot chocolate or coffee and take it outside. If you can’t go out, wrap yourself in a cozy sweatshirt or robe and view it through the window. Play with ways to make it more enchanting.

Enchanted Breath

It’s time for our midweek enchanted breath.

Find a comfortable position. Gently roll your head around a few times in one direction, then the other. Shake your shoulders, loosening the tension from your muscles and nerves. Rotate them back and then forward. Take a deep and cleansing breath in through your nose and release through your mouth. And another deep breath in and release.

The Beauty of the Sky

Visualize a sunrise or sunset. Invite all the senses. Imagine looking up at the sky and seeing the streaks of pinks and purples and deep blues and grays, with maybe a fiery orange and yellow all across the sky. In your mind’s eye turn slowly around in a circle to see it from every angle possible.

The Sounds of Sunrise, Sunset

As you quiet yourself, become aware of the sounds that you hear. There may be birds chirping or the wind rustling through the trees. Breathe in the air and see if there’s a fragrance you can detect, drifting on it.

Taste the Air

Taste the air. Imagine sipping a hot chocolate or coffee, fully experiencing the taste.

Observe the Textures

Notice the textures around you. Feel the sensation and freedom of airing out your soul while witnessing Mother Natures’ show.

Retreat From Stress

Breathe in freedom and exhale gratitude. Inhale joy and exhale peace.

Gently open your eyes. Feel better? I’m so proud of you, and you can be proud of yourself, for taking a few moments out of your day to breathe and retreat from stress.

“Enchanted breaths are the ahh, the ha ha, and the aha! ha of life.”

Which Day This Week Will You Choose to View A Sunrise, Sunset?

P.S. Remember to schedule your sunrise, sunset viewing on your calendar this week or the Dragons will snatch it away and make you forget all about it.

Stay enchanted!
