DECEMBER: DRAGONS OF STRESS AWARENESS MONTH
I’m declaring December as Dragons of Stress Awareness Month! Step away from your work at the moment, whether you’re at your desk or folding laundry. Look in the corners of your room to detect the Dragons of Stress that are hiding there, waiting to pounce on you.
Awareness is the first step. You can meet the challenges when you are at your best. It’s only Wednesday but the pressures of the week may have already built up inside of your body, mind, spirit, and emotions. Time to clear them.
TAKE AN ENCHANTED BREATH
Clear your vessel with a deep and cleansing, purifying breath. Exhale. Inhale again, this time more deeply. On the exhale, imagine that you’re breathing out toxic waste. Another few breaths, in and out, to release it.
Stamp the soles of your feet onto the floor, whether you’re sitting or standing. Rest your feet firmly on the floor, and feel the grounding coming up from Mother Earth, into the bottoms of your feet, and moving up through your entire body, All the way up to your head and back down again.
Reach your arms up over your head, extending them as if you’re trying to touch the sky. With arms straight, slowly arc your arms down to your sides and back up again, as if making angels in the snow. Do this several times. Then let your arms rest in your lap in a comfortable position.
Slowly put chin to chest and raise your head again. Repeat. Turn your head to look over your right shoulder and then your left. Return your head to center. This gives you the flexibility to scan the room for Dragons.
Another deep and cleansing breath in and release.
Consider yourself centered.
Now carry on with the week, remembering to stay ahead of the Dragons.
