Key 4: Sensory Experiences

Plant Something: Make an Investment in the Future

Plant Something: Make an Investment in the Future

Plant something. Anything. To do so is to invest in the future. Last Sunday we focused on gardens of all kinds. We’re trying to step up our awareness of Enchanted Key #4-Sensory Experiences so we finish the month off strong. Enchanted Key #5 takes a look at Reduced Clutter. Perfect for our spring cleaning.

One Thing to Plant

If you’ve decided to make a Zen garden with rocks or sand, I still invite you to plant one thing that you can grow. It can be mint for your iced tea this summer, basil for your pesto, or parsley for your green drinks. Maybe it’ll be one giant sunflower. When our children were small, I planted giant sunflower seeds in a rectangular pattern with an opening on one end. The sunflowers grew tall and created a “sunflower house” for them to play in. This was high on the enchantment scale, as were the miniature Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins we planted one July.

Enchanted Breath

For this week’s Enchanted Breath, sit in a comfortable position and drop tension away from your physical body. Shake it off like a dog shaking off water. Take a few deep and cleansing breaths and imagine clearing soil in an area of any size, large or small, or even in a cup. Then picture yourself, with intention, planting a seed. Imagine a time-lapsed photography view of it sprouting, growing and being useful to you in some way. This is a lovely relationship growing.

Plant an Idea

If you’re really not a gardening buff, you can consider planting the seed of an idea or project. This, too, can be big or small.

Enchanted Breaths are the “ahh, the haha, and the aha! of life!”
