LET IT GO
Let it go, Dear Enchanted Ones, as we complete our month-long focus on Enchanted Key #2-Altered Perceptions this week. We’ll move along to your useful application of Enchanted Key #3-Journaling, next.
FREEDOM FROM THE TO-DON’T LIST
Along the lines of “life’s too short” and all, I’m aware of how many people keep things on their to-do list that they have no interest in doing! Are you one of those people? I am still in the process, myself, of moving away from that.
Everyone, including Oprah, would rave about a particular book, so I’d buy it. If I couldn’t get into it, I’d think there was something wrong with me and I just wasn’t focused enough. I’d begin to read it again and again, never getting past page 30. I’d keep it on my nightstand and the Dragons would taunt me. “Everyone else is reading it and getting so much out of it. Why aren’t you?” I’d fall asleep with the book on my chest (on page 4) with a scaly, Dragon finger pointed at me.
Then I decided that it was okay if the book didn’t resonate with me. Instead of having it sit around and make me feel bad every time I saw it, I let it go on its way. I donated it to the Friends of the Library. Ding, ding, ding! Win, win, win.
No judgement of the author. I still love my friends who loved the book. Perhaps the timing wasn’t right for me. Maybe it was the topic. When I decided to let it go, both the book and the self-judgment, I was free.
THE “SHOULDS” IMPRISON YOU
For this week’s Enchanted Breath, let’s make the focus to “let it go.” The “shoulds” imprison you. List whatever it is that you would like to let go of. Maybe it’s a book on your reading list, a ton of emails you think you must read before you delete, or even something as big as a broken friendship that you’ve tried to glue together more times than you can count. Are there self-limiting beliefs you’d like to discard?
CHANGE YOUR PERCEPTION
As a nod to Altered Perceptions, change your perspective. Include the “I’ve-been-holding-on-to-this-for-forever-and-I’m-ready-to-let-it-go” with your exhales. Imagine using your breath to release it. Let it go and see how it feels.
Ready? Select a focus to release. Take a deep and purifying breath in. On the exhale, clear space as you envision yourself letting whatever it is, go. Ahh. Another deep breath in, and exhale, audibly blowing the breath out and seeing what you’re releasing moving farther and farther away from you.
Freedom from stagnant qi is a lovey way to begin this new season.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT…
Now that you’ve made some room, maybe you’d like to schedule something you’d love to do! If you didn’t have a chance to see Sunday’s Enchanted Blog post about putting SOMEDAY on your calendar NOW, here’s the link:
