Leaf Watching, Another Beautiful Show by Mother Nature

Leaf watching is the perfect way to close out our month-long focus on Enchanted Key #9-Nature. Next month we will settle into Enchanted Key #10-Meditation, but for this week, I want to share with you a list of the top 10 places to be for leaf watching.

Maximize the Experience

I’m excited that Georgia made it in to #10. I’d love to squeeze a trip in to get over there to see the leaves in their autumn gowns. Leaf watching is so enchanting! Add to it by photographing the leaves, capturing their beauty on canvas while setting up your easel outside and painting plenaire. You might record all of the leaves you’ve seen on your enchanted excursion. Have a picnic under the canopy of gorgeous leaves.

Collect A Few Special Leaves To Take Home With You

You know what I love to do? Take a few special leaves home with me. By a few, I mean an armful, but I put a few on my entryway’s seasonal nature table, a few on the nature table in my office, and the rest I clean off and press in between the pages of my recipe books. I especially enjoy placing them on the pages of fall recipes. What a treat to open to the roasted butternut squash recipe or the roasted garlic and Brussels sprouts recipe and see an aubergine maple leaf pressed to an almost leathery texture. It’s a visual treat as well as an emotional one when the beautiful memories of gathering it return to me.
