Hug Yourself to Good Health!

Hug yourself right now.

Go ahead, do it. Give them something to talk about at the water cooler.

It’s time for your mid-week Enchanted Breath. You know you’ve only been taking shallow breaths all week so far. Wrap your arms around yourself like when you were a kid and pretending you were making out with someone else. Remember?

So, right arm on top and get your arms as far around yourself as possible. Take a deep breath in and slowly let your forehead drop down toward your arms on the exhale. Rest into that stretch for a moment. Feel all of those tiny muscles that have locked up on you? Breathe into them twice more.

Now lift your head to the starting position at center. On another deep inhale, open your arms out to the sides, as if hugging the wide world, and look up toward the heavens. Gently arch your back and on the exhale, switch the position of your arms, left arm on top and give yourself another hug. (You know you need it.) Lower your head again and just breathe a few more breaths in that position before you release to center, arms out wide, face turned upward again, and relax.

Ahh. Better, right?
