Draw out your stress!

It’s time for your Enchanted Breath.

Remember learning about fire safety and the phrase, “STOP, DROP AND ROLL?” Use it to turn off the fire alarms blaring in your body, mind, spirit and emotions right now.

STOP. Turn your attention inward. Take a few full-lung capacity breaths and release, deepening your relaxation with each one.

DROP the tension from your muscles and nerves. We tend to hold tension in our furrowed brows, pursed lips, clenched jaws, necks, shoulders, balled-up fists, sucked-in bellies, rigid backs and curled-in toes.  This likely means that your elbows are the only part of you on vacation. Scan  yourself and breathe into each of these tension-holding areas and release a little more.

ROLL your head gently from side, in all directions until it doesn’t sound like New Year’s Eve poppers are stored in your neck.

If you can steal an extra two minutes, draw out your stress! Nothing complicated or impossible. Doodling counts. Draw symbols, lines, or shapes that represent leaving your stress on the page so you can throw it away. If you have one of those nifty coloring books, sometime today, spend at least twenty minutes coloring. Begin an art journal that serves as a visual reminder to corral those stress Dragons and close the book on them. You will literally draw out your stress, making room for the ahh to appear.

Enchanted Breaths are the “ahh, the haha and the aha! of life.”
